18.5+/20 – Raymond Chan
5 stars – Michael Cooper
94/100 – James Suckling

“Impressive freshness here with ripe red fruit and a swathe of sweetly fragrant wild flowers and herbs. The palate has attractive, punchy blood-orange, red-cherry and wild red-berry flavors in fresh, succulent and spicy mode. Drink now. Screw cap.” – James Suckling

“Medium-full bodied, the palate is openly accessible and sweetly rich and mouthfilling with flavours of ripe red berry fruit along with herbs and earth. This has whole bunch stalk and red floral perfumes that add aromatic lift. The mouthfeel is soft with a gently concentrated heart with layers of fruit, herbs and earth all underlined by fine-grained, supple tannin structure with subtle acidity and freshness adding to the vitality. The flavours carry to a lingering finish.” – Raymond Chan

“Still very youthful, the 2017 vintage was matured in French oak barrels (27 per cent new) and bottled unfined and unfiltered. Full-coloured, it is mouthfilling and savoury, with vibrant cherry, plum and spice flavours, showing excellent structure and concentration, and a fragrant bouquet.” – Michael Cooper

Tasting Note: This incredibly fragrant and elegant wine is from our relatively cool site in Bannockburn in a cool growing season resulting in a wine with great tension and incredible layers of red fruit, spice and earth. The aromas are both intriguing and complex: fresh berry, wild game, gun smoke, baking spice and wild thyme. The palate is long and bright with cherry, blackcurrant, cardamom, and delicious savoury undertones. Silky fine tannins compliment the vibrant acidity, giving the wine length and memory. This wine is drinking beautifully at release and will continue to do so for at least a decade.
